About the Owner
Owner and master colorist Charlene Dougan has more than 20 years of invaluable experience in the hair industry. Starting with a spectacular stint at the iconic Vidal Sassoon Salon, Charlene’s diverse expertise led her to open her dreamy hair oasis, Mint Salon, in 2008. Since its inception, the look of satisfaction and many compliments herald at clients are ongoing evidence of her skills and keen attention to detail. To satisfy and exceed her customers’ expectations, she takes the time to listen, provide detailed explanations, meaningful advice, and reassurance to ensure every client receives what they need.
Born in London and raised in the British West Indies island of St Vincent & The Grenadines, Charlene’s diverse cultural background was the gateway to her curiosity to working with various hair types. This curiosity led to a multifaceted career of mastering hair care for all ethnicities and hair types.
Combining her natural talent, developed skills through experience, and creative intuition, Charlene’s personal touch leaves her clients feeling satisfied, confident, and happy.
Charlene currently resides in New York City and is an avid boxer and fitness enthusiast. In her free time, she feeds her cultural appetite through travel and exploring the world as a Mom to her adventurous and loving teenage son.
